The Finnish Revolution!

Most of the Finns I know grew up with dark winters drinking Koshkinkorva vodka (lots) and skiing on icy shitty slopes. Maybe this is the reason they are some of the hardest people around. 2011 definitely marks the year when the Finns made their big brake-through in the Freeskiing world.

Much like the shots in Mainilla started the winter war against the giant Soviet Union in 1939 (later referred to as the Finnish revolution), Nipwitz and it's riders can be claimed to be the agitators for this revolution together with Flatlight films followed by the Real Skifi crew delivering some of the most creative and impressive skiing and films out there, once again being the underdogs against the almighty freeskiing-scene in the rest of the world.

With names like Oskari Raitanen (read his Interview from last season here), Verneri and Illka Hannula, Tommi Kostilainen, Matti Räty, AJ Kemppainen, Pekka Hyysalo, Antti Ollila & Iisko Heiskanen amongst others in the lead there is definitely a Finnish freeskiing revolution going on and new names and impressive edits keep on leaking out on the net like nuclear pollution in Japan. Hopefully the Industry recognizes this and gives them the proper support and attention they need to make it to an International level (which they all ready have achieved riding and film wise). With a history of great snowboarders and mogul-skiers hailing out of Finland this is an revolution that Spatziba has been waiting on for quite a while and we Salute the fact that the Finnish Uprising Is finally here!
