Monkey Style
It ain't easy being steezy
With winter around the corner I thought it was time to get my jib-game up to date. An old phrase that popped my mind due to the video below was "Monkey Style". A term that's been heavily used in the past in skiing but that I've missed for the last couple of years. So I thought I'll educate myself and you what "monkey style" really means. If you look it up on Wikipedia "Monkey style" or "Monkey Kung Fu (猴拳), or Monkey Fist, is a Chinese martial art which utilises ape or monkey-like movements as part of its technique. Monkey kung fu integrates the use of an extensive collection of weapons for use in combat, thus creating an effective way to help you realise the true meaning of the monkey and have a feel for the monkey based movements." I'm not a hundred percent sure who came up with the term "monkey style" in skiing but according to google Tanner Hall came up with the phrase Gorilla Steeze meaning that a rider skied with arms hanging like you are holding on to some heavy weights and upper body sagging looking like a Gorilla. Riders like Erik Pollard used the style allot back in the days and it was referred to as the dopest way to ride for a long while!
Anyhow here´s a video that illustrates how the Gorilla Steeze or Monkey Style looks like, now lets hope you kids realise that Afterbangs looks kinda stupid too.
