When did skiing become freaking freestyle-aerials again? Here we are with two of the best piperiders in the world throwing a session on a air-baloon with a personal trainer, and then they have the nerve to make a 5 minute edit out of it, WTF!? Are we falling back in the same traps as freestyle skiing did in the 70's?

Actually I'm quite afraid of Freeskiing making the same mistakes that freestyle/hot-dog-skiing did back in the days. Freestyle/hot dog-skiing starting up as a bro hippie kind of movement with a lot of soul and ending up without hart when people started approaching it to seriously and the F.I.S got involved in the sport. Spin to win, balloon-training and personal trainers... Is this the way we want skiing to evolve? It might be okay that people train this way, but please, please keep it to yourselves and spare the rest of the world of your gay training-sessions. For the kids that don't know what the hell Hot Dog or Freestyle skiing was back in the day, check the before and after the F.I.S footage below

Robot-skiing
Significant rule changes linked to increased requirements on reliability have been done over the years within Freestyle-skiing. This has given us more clear defined criteria’s where exact what will be judged is stated. The changes have led to both positive and negative consequences.Positive on the basis of the perspective that what will be judged is clarified for judges, coaches and the athletes, but negative when this clarity in the rules also makes the sport performances become increasingly stereotyped in order to fit in these judging criteria.

Hehe, yeah mascot! But you must agree the F.I.S helped out allot with fucking things up! Skate, surf and snowboard all have big "world series comps" that are not F.I.S but more industry/rider related and that are working really well, a good example in skiing is the freeskiing world tour, I wish there was a similar one in freestyle skiing. I mean F.I.S Snowboard would never be alive if people wouldn't have to qualify into the Olympics by competing there and I DONT like to see freeskiing in the Olympics (big buzz about pipeskiing going in there right now). People are talking about how good it would be for skiing etc, etc but personally I think it would gain popularity in the short run and attract more people to the sport, but in the long run F.I.S and the olympics would make it into another ruled out sport putting it in line with figure-skating and other lame sports, eventually killing the soul of it just as it did with Freestyle-skiing/Hot Dog skiing back in the days.

Sorry ZZZebdula, it’s not especially FIS it’s the world series competing that fucks it up, as soon someone wants to win bad enough to do anything for it, it´s going down the drain. We did it you are doing it and our kids will do it. The only "new" sport I know who haven’t yet, is skateboard, skate still seems to keep its integrity intact. Maybe because there is no world series.
