Peak Performance King Of Style Qualifer

King Of Style is one of the major city big air comps along with Freestyle.ch and London Freeze. There has always been a lot of riders showing up for this comp. That is because they all want what Sweden have. And im not referring to reindeers, meatballs or Wasa knäckebröd. You know what im taking about right?

Friday November 19th and Saturday the 20th is the date for the contest but before that 4 skiers get a chance to qualify by sending in a 60 second video of them proving their skills. Below you´ll find a bunch of qualifiers. The rest dropping soon!

But first a summary of last years comp and there is so many good quotes from this video.

Simon Dumont:
-12 of the best skiers are here. Everybodys got their own style. Tom Wallish, style machine. Jon Olsson has the perfect style, like a robot.

Tom Wallish on beeing the favorite:
Nah, i dont know what they´re smoking

First out, Dale Talkington...

I was stoked on this edit. Could be due to the fact that he did a forward cork 10, and on top of that, with a mute. One of the coolest and hardest trick in my opinion. But this is a really good contribution.

I guess we are gonna see a lot of this kind of recipe for the KoS videos; Two good doubles, two right spins, one switch one forward and a bunch of (semi)steezie tricks and top it of with some (semi)progressive railriding.

Second out Magnus Mongstad and this dude was all over the place. Im sorry bro but this was´nt good at all. No right spins and the mandatory both pretzel 2s was on too small boxes. Back to gradeschool im afraid.

Third dude out; Will Berman.

First i was really really stoked. This guys style reminds me of Wallish a whole lot. Solid landings and some creativity in there. But it all pretty much fell to pieces when he had a hucked switch dub as an ender. But i guess i cant really blame him but the doubleflip climate that is upon us these days. (THANKS JONER!)

Forth dude out MaGz. no No NO! He´s got the attitude with the name and music but the skiing doesnt cut it. At all. Crappy pretzels and crappy sw 7s 9s 10s eventhough i liked his first straight 5. But seriously, that is´nt that hard. Uh uh son, you´re staying home this year.

Steffen Hamre. Alright! Norwegian power! Here is a guy who finished his oatmeal. This was good. Really good. I like when it sort of feels like skateboarding, when you have to concentrate to figure out which is his natural spinning direction. Look at this dude everybody, different grabs, different spins. Keeping it interesting all the way. Could have mixed it up with some urbans. That would have been BOMBA as the weird energydrink in the beginning of the video.

Linus Tornberg is also impressing me. Good style all the way. Some spins make me think of Henrik Harlaut and that, ladies and gentlemen is a good thing. Would have liked a right spin in there aswell, but when you ski that steezie it does´nt really matter to me. Go Linus Go!

Kristeoffer Edwall or Piffen as he is called is a cool dude. He got a spot last year for the JOI where he was a bit unlucky. He could have won the whole thing with his megastyle switch double flat 10 high mute. I think the format for the JOI was that you could´nt do the same trick twice and he was forced to do a switch 9 or something and Russ Henshaw did his SECOND (but 100 millionth in life) dub 10 which should have disqualified him. Anyways, he is a stand up guy and i dont feel this edit made him justice eventhough it was good.

John Kutcher. Aaah fuck yeah! My favorite so far. This is the thing that most people dont get, you dont have to show you know all spins up til 12 by doing them. If you do a good 12 people realize that you are probally able to do the 7s, 9s and 10s aswell. But anyway way, back to Kutcher. Damn, that was an ill edit. Really progressive and all tricks where smooth as ELL as the frenchies would put it. This dude will come to Sweden for sure! And i´m gonna watch it again as soon as im done writing this.

Ben Moxham. Not bad, not bad. But the bangers where not those two doubles in the end. The first two tricks where the real bangers!

Jacob Hyllengren Larsson. A big plus for doing the same trick twice but with different grabs. That is something that is way to rare these days. So thats the positive feedback and here comes the bad. No real bangers, the closest was that ungrabbed 180 in my opinion with sort of a backscratch. Im sure he wanted it to look like a nollie but it still looked cool eventhough it did´nt look like a nollie at all. Yeah, this was´nt that good im afraid.
