Late night cousins of the dawn Selecta
Then, as I’m getting ready to hit the sack, the nightshift start up inside my head, messing with the jukebox of my inner imam, the Dawn Selecta.

I'm gonna keep this short, 'cause I gotta work on some piano arrangements later tonight and I'm going to London in the morning. To me it started like many a tales, with Bob Dylan singing a song...
Blessed by a headfull of KING STITT today. I’m a happy camper.
This special is not only about recognizing Heartland as a genre, but also about isolating the specifics that makes Heartland Rock what it is. I've mushed through the whole blue collar concept in the Springsteen post, and I touched on the musical side of it in the Setzer post with his glass Hammonds and whatnots. This is gonna tie the knot a little bit tighter around the concept.
I was cruising to Twice bar in Kuta, Bali the other day and i ran into Brian from 7 Crowns.
I don’t know if you have heard about Kanye West’s new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but according the every single newspaper in the world, it's the hot shit this week, December 2010. The samples are quite remarkable, from a rock point-of-view, and surprisingly the first single, POWER, uses the hook from 41 year old prog-rock/free-jazz/proto-metal classic 21st Century Schizoid Man, by the mighty King Crimson. This clip is from one of their first large gigs, Hyde Park, London 1969.
Thru the thick haze of lingering dreamscapes I could make out faint beats & a rhythm in a vague distance, somewhere in the dream drenched dome of my cranium.
Now this is more fun, cause Brian Setzer is a favourite among all us guitar slingers. Not thanks to that heartland album he did, but because he is one of the best (if not the best) contemporary rockabilly players. Truth is, I should probably have written about that stuff before, but this is almost equally important to understand how important it is to - understand, I guess.
Lemmy bringing the annual Christmas cartoon – Santa’s not far behind.
It's impossible to have a conversation about heartland rock without mentioning The Boss. Hey, it's even ridiculous to think you can get away with just a mention, even if it's a very honourable one. He stands almost alone when it comes to people who succeeded and gained entry to the very folks heartland is about. And he still does it - and I'm not gonna lie to anyone of you, even if I don't care much for his recent material, I admire the fact that he is still out there doing his thing almost exactly like when he started.
The surf punk geeks are back! Hopefully to stay. Ever since they released "Life's a beach" they've been stuck in the top plays on the jukebox. With hits such as "Sha na na na" and "Driving in my Saab"
I once had a version of this song on one of those ALAN LOMAX feild recordings cds but I lost it some where along the line.
Slayer bringing the annual Christmas illumination – let there be light.
Everyone was gone except the bartender, the girl on the next stool and me. The rest of the band had left for the hotel, or maybe for an after party. I'd been sitting in the bar while slowly watching the dance floor dissolve intro second hand smoke and pools of beer. Had been drinking all through the disco, and watched the load out through hazy lenses while thinking I should go to sleep.
