Poly Styrene

Punk Rock Icon, Poly Styrene of X Ray Spex, past away in cancer the other week.

Like many of the best Punk bands of their time X Ray Spex released just one album, Germ Free Adolescents, in 1978. Few people have stood out more then Poly although her career was short lived and she had to quit because she was diagnosed with schizophrenia (as probably any brilliant rock star would be). She was described as the "archetype for the modern-day feminist punk"; because she wore dental braces, stood against the typical sex object female of 1970s rock star, sported a Gaudy Dayglo wardrobe, and was of mixed race, she was "one of the least conventional front-persons in rock history, male or female". She will forever be remembered, leaving a heavy footprint in punk rock history.

Wow, ouch! I had no idea.. Some of her mindbogeling & defiant music had a huge part in changing my life in some pretty radical ways. She left us w/ some really righteous punk rock music... Rest in Paradise.
