'Making of' with Emil Kozak
With one day left to Bright's kickoff, everyone involved is getting ready for the social frenzy and the booth meetings. I have to admit that I couldn't care less for those things. But if there's one aspect that gets me going in tradeshows is the exhibitions. Far from being the best context to promote the arts, nevertheless they're one of the few places where brands decide to unload a big pile of cash onto creative people to do what they do best.
In this case, the alliance we bring you is the one of Emil Kozak and Element, one of the few brands which spends it's art-money wisely. We chat with this talented Dane to check what is he up to and to see if we can build some anticipation.
What are the 5 tools you always bring with you for a montage?
Cameras: I always bring my cameras. I usually make a big thing out of documenting the show.
Markers: In case some things needs fixing, or if i feel like working on a wall or something.
Tape: I am addicted to tape. It always seem to come in handy.
Knife + ruler: For fitting prints to frames.
4 people you expect to see in your exhibition.
My family are coming from Denmark. Berlin is a good meeting point between Denmark and Spain.
So I expect to see my mom, dad, brother and his girlfriend.
Tell us 3 things you're planning to do in Berlin out of the tradeshow.
Hopefully i will get to shoot some photos. I am bringing my medium format cameras as well. :-)
Drink a good german beer in the shadow somewhere.
Be with my family.
Which are your 2 favourite pieces of work that we'll see on the walls?
The big Crystal skull print.
A collage of a girl holding the universe.
What's the one favourite song you've played in the studio while preparing the show?
I dont know if it counts, but i have been listening to an audiobook by Bill Bryson called 'A Short History of Nearly Everything'.
